Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oksana Syroid met with Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Georgia David Bakradze on Wednesday.
O.Syroid expressed gratitude for the all-round support Georgia provides to Ukraine during this extremely
complicated time. Ukrainian politician stressed the support of sovereignty and
territorial integrity of the Ukrainian state at the international level on the
part of Georgia, and thanked
Georgia
for supporting Ukrainian delegation during the January PACE meeting, in the
course of which powers of the Russian delegation were limited. The Parties discussed the issue of Ukrainian-Georgian relations both at the bilateral level and within the framework of international alliances, having underlined the importance of their further dynamic development on the basis of commitment to European values. The Parties stressed their mutual interest in the development of parliamentary component of inter-state cooperation in view of activity of friendship groups of both countries.
Interlocutors exchanged ideas regarding foreign policy component of Ukrainian-Georgian
relations in the context of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. It went
about the expediency of elaborating a unified standing of Ukraine, Georgia
and Moldova
on the ways to implement the EU Association Agreements. The Parties stressed also the priority of reforming all spheres of life activity of the country. According to Oksana Syroid, Ukraine has already made certain steps on the way to reforming judicial and law-enforcement systems and refining anticorruption legislation.
Representative of the Georgian Government confirmed aspiration of official Tbilisi to comprehensively contribute to strengthening democracy and carrying out reforms in Ukraine, which, according to him, will be successfully implemented in our country.
Within the framework of the meeting, the Parties discussed the issue of
defense capacity of both countries. In the course of discussion, David Bakradze appreciated political processes, taking place in Ukraine, and expressed hope that democratic transformations will continue.
Oksana Syroid and David Bakradze proved the necessity of continuing broad inter-state dialogue at all levels.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Ukraine Mikheil Ukleba also participated in the meeting.
